Romanticism was an art movement in the early-mid 1800s focused on the sublimity of nature its beauty. Romanticist art is some of my favorite along with the Hudsen River School whcih was a later landscape movement that I feel is very similar. There are three artists in this category, Frederic Edwin Church 1826 - 1900, Thomas Cole 1801 - 1848, and John Martin 1789 - 1854

Church has a lot of beautiful art of the extremes of nature both hot and cold, some of my favorite paintings of his are Aurora Borealis and Cotopaxi (1862)
